Are you interested in composting, both at home and in your community? Would you like to reduce your food waste and save yourself some money? Well then we may have the course for you!
Stop Food Waste, a national programme funded by the Environmental Protection Agency, is running their Master Composter Programme this May and June in Cloughjordan. We are currently recruiting for this free course and places are limited. In the course you will:
- Learn about all aspects of home composting and how to construct and use various systems to compost household and garden waste
- Practice practical ideas for saving money by reducing food waste
- Get support in setting up a system to compost leafs and grass clippings from public areas in your community
The Master composter programme consists of four evening sessions plus two Saturday mornings. During the evening sessions you will learn about practical aspects of home composting and food waste reduction and you will be encouraged to take money saving, waste reducing actions at home.
On the Saturdays we will construct a composting demonstration site in the Cloughjordan Ecovillage. This will give you hands on experience of setting up and running different composting systems so you can set up your own at home or in your community. As part of the programme we will work with you to develop projects for your own community groups. These would be based on the needs of your community and would also aim to help gain Tidy Towns points for your area.
