Upcoming workshops to help you with your rights
Galway – November 30
Dublin – December 7
Have you found yourself frustrated when trying to get information on development and planning applications? Do you think that there should be more public participation in decision-making on proposed activities including local transport works, planning permission applications, fracking or new incinerators? Do you think that public authorities should provide easily-accessible information on the environment and ensure transparent processes?
‘Ireland ratified the Aarhus Convention last year and this means that our rights of access to information, participation and justice in environmental matters are now recognised in law,’ said spokesperson Michael Ewing.
‘The existence of these rights needs to be much better known among the general public. The purpose of these workshops is to raise awareness of the rights conferred by the Convention and to explore how they can best be implemented and honoured,’ Mr Ewing continued.
The next public workshop will be held on Saturday November 30th, from 10.30am to 4.30pm in the Menlo Park Hotel on the Headford Road in Galway.
On December 7th the final workshop will be held in the Radison Blue Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin from 10am to 4pm.
Please email roadshow@ien.ie to register. The workshop is free and refreshments will be provided.
The ‘Aarhus Roadshow’ is is brought to you by the Environmental Pillar and is supported by the Department of the Taoiseach’s Communicating Europe Initiative as part of the EU Commission’s Year of Citizens.
