The dual climate and biodiversity crises our agricultural sector faces are vast – and they are more pressing than ever before.
We need someone front and centre on our team working to influence decision-makers to ensure that environmental protection remains at the forefront of agriculture, land use and food policy in Ireland. So we’re hiring an Agriculture and Land Use Policy and Advocacy Officer.
They’ll be working with members of the environmental NGO sector, with senior government officials, and the European Commission.
Some duties of the role include:
- Monitoring developments related to agriculture and land use policies as they pertain to areas of the environment
- Coordinating processes to agree policy positions and messaging
- Engaging and developing relationships with key public representatives to ensure that our goals for the environment and communicated effectively
We’re looking for an energetic, self-starting individual to take on this role, who’s comfortable with working on their own and as part of a team.
Essential criteria for the job is as follows:
- Relevant education qualifications in environmental policy, law or a related discipline
- At least 3 years’ experience in related policy or advocacy work
- Proven experience of policy analysis, planning and producing own research and policy documents to tight deadlines
- Experience of advocacy work at a national, European and international level
- Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to a range of audiences
The annual gross salary for this role is of the range €40,000 to 45,000, commensurate with skills and experience. The contract is for a one-year, 35-hour week role and renewable conditional on funding.
