The Irish Wildlife Trust (IWT) has written to Minister Jimmy Deenihan expressing our dismay at the proposed ‘review’ of the Planning and Development Act in relation to the protection of our Natural Heritage Areas (NHA).
His interview with Shannonside radio yesterday (Wednesday October 9th) suggested that the legal protection for these areas would be weakened in order to facilitate turf-cutters and avoid the conflict that has dogged the designation process for Special Areas of Conservation.
