Guided woodland walks, nest-box making, natural dyes, herb lore (plant magic) and more at Clare Biodiversity Day free event at Lees Road amenity complex, Ennis, Co.Clare on Sunday 23rd May, 12 noon to 6pm. All welcome.

Guided walks and coppice crafts demonstrations for Biodiversity Day 2010, County Clare
To provide guided walks at two locations in County Clare (Lees Road, Ennis and Tuamgraney Community Woodland Wildlife Park) for National Biodiversity Day
To provide coppice craft demonstrations at Lees Road, Ennis, Co.Clare, in support of Biodiversity Day 2010, County Clare.
Aimed at the general public, Clare Biodiversity Group, CELT, Schools and colleges in Ennis and in Scariff / Tuamgraney area.

Guided walks will be arranged at specified times at each location, advertised in advance. They will each take approximately one hour and will include : -
Identification of species
Explanation of interactions between species
Explanation of the values of biodiversity and values of specific species to people and environment
Explanation of the rich biodiversity of native species living in close relationships.

Coppice crafts demonstrations will include explanation of use of pole-lathe and shave-horse as tools to make greenwood furniture, implements and utensils. There will be explanation of coppice management of native trees, the benefits to biodiversity, uses of different timbers and demonstration of hazel wattle construction technique.
