Experts and practitioners in public authorities, business support organisations including business associations, Chambers of Commerce and other public and private agencies, consultancies, research institutes, small businesses (SMEs), trade unions, NGOs, workers’ and employers’ federations and all other relevant stakeholders or citizens involved or interested in the implementation of EU water policy.

Objective of the consultation

As part of its Smart Regulation policy, the European Commission announced in its Work Programme for 2010 that, “to keep current regulation fit for purpose, the Commission will begin reviewing, from this year onwards, the entire body of legislation in selected policy fields through “Fitness Checks“. The purpose is to identify excessive burdens, overlaps, gaps, inconsistencies and/or obsolete measures which may have appeared over time

The consultation offers an opportunity to all interested parties to express their views on issues of relevance to the European Commission’s Fitness Check of EU Freshwater Policy.
