Cavan

27th May. Bat Walk in Virginia

10pm. Join Bat Conservation Ireland for a night-time hunt for bats near you. What species of bat are flying near you. This event provides an opportunity to train, educate and increase awareness of bats and bat detection.

Clare

29th May. Training to design and plant wildflower gardens in a forest setting, in Feakle

10am to 4pm, at Eve’s Orchard, Caher Rice, Feakle, Co.Clare – contact Kes Clarke   086-0571971.  Learn about development of a woodland garden and orchard as part of a small-holding and how to under-plant trees with various shrubs, herbs and wildflowers – all designed to enhance and encourage biodiversity through attraction of pollinating and predatory insects. Free,  but a contribution of 5 euro is requested towards a lunch of fresh garden produce.

29th May. Biodiversity walks and talks in Irish Seed Savers Association, Capparoe, Scarriff, East Clare

Guided walks through 20 acres of seed gardens and heritage orchards.Walks begin at 12, 1, 2, and 3pm. Learn why agricultural biodiversity is important for a changing climate and food security.
Through guided tours of the heritage orchards and seed gardens participants will learn about examples of agricultural biodiversity, the impact on Irish history and how the proposed legislation in the EU could affect availability of heritage varieties for Irish gardeners.

3.00pm walk through Castletown Demesne and Liffey Valley led by Dr Declan Doogue, Botanical Recorder for Co Kildare. Meet at main gates to Castletown House

Gathering at top of Howth Harbour at NOON for Fisheries and Biodiversity.   All Welcome!!

29th May. Grand Canal Biodiversity walk/ clean up as you go

Biodiversity walk  along the Grand Canal/spring clean Baggot St. onwards to highlight the native Tree species and Wildlife/Birdlife found along this corridor and increased public awareness of the unique public waterways flora and fauna in an urban setting.
