The 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development called for governments to adopt a National Sustainable Development Strategy (NSDS) that would “build upon and harmonize the various sectoral economic, social and environmental policies and plans that are operating in the country”.
The McGill University-United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Collaborating Centre on Environmental Assessment is now conducting a study evaluating the NSDS in five nations: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. This is being done through a comparative analysis of each country’s strategy and associated documentation, as well as a survey of environmental consultants in each jurisdiction.
Purpose
This anonymous survey has been designed to provide a ‘third-party’ perspective to their analysis, since most of the literature associated with NSDSs is government-produced.
The survey consists of 16 questions and takes no more than 15 minutes to complete.
All participants have the option to receive a FREE summary of the research findings and will be automatically entered in a random drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Amazon.com
