The North Louth Branch of Birdwatch Ireland are organising a pelagic in outer Dundalk bay (half day trip in a boat to check out seabirds such as shearwaters and petrels) and a couple of hours seawatching (watching seabirds from Clogerhhead).

The pelagic costs 65 euros per person. Both events are dependent on favourable weather conditions, so the times are flexible. Firm dates will be announced three days beforehand (for example notification on Friday for outing on the following Sunday).

If you are  interested please contact Brefni Martin as places, particularly for the pelagic, are limited? (NB the pelagic is not a birdwatch ireland event due to insurance; insurance will be covered by the boatman).

Bird watching course

Brefni is also running a course at the O’Fiach Institute in Dundalk and Drogheda starting in September. The course is designed to appeal to amateur bird-watchers and will cover basic identification, behaviour, ecology, reproduction, migration and conservation.
